I’ve just finished mixing the fantastic debut album by Black Submarine.

The band are formed from an alliance between Nick Mc Cabe and Si Jones(The Verve), Davide Rossi (violinist and arranger with Goldfrapp and Coldplay), Mig Schillace(Santa Cruz and Portishead) and the wonderfully talented Amelia Tucker.

Black Submarine aim to explore a “free, unconstricted, self-sufficient approach to music” which is hugely refreshing, and the album is amongst my favourite projects to be involved in.

We’re heading over to Abbey Road to master the record with the awesome Frank Arkwright next week…. expect to hear more from the band later in the year.

Following on from mixing “Life and Death” for Robin last year, I’m pleased to say that the album I mixed for him earlier this year is due to be released on the 24th June as a twin release with the soundtrack to “Metro Manila”.

My mix of Life and Death was the lead track on Robin’s soundtrack for Metro Manila, which won the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for World Cinema.

I spent the latter part of last year producing an album for London based band ” K “,  formerly know as Marner Brown. We cut 14 tracks with 12 of those making it to the final album. The tracks sound massive, with Fiachra Kerrigans vocals as good as you would ever need to be as a rock vocalist….think Rod, Liam, and Paul Rogers rolled into one.

The album has been funded partly by Pledge Music, where you can check out loads of cool stuff about the band, including some clips of the recording at Big Mushroom studios.

Empire Signal approached me last Autumn to record the first of 4 tracks for their first album. I was attracted to the band by Paul Eatons’ song writing, reminding me of Neil Young who I love.  The four tracks are called Strangers, We are Free, Call me a friend and the standout track Like A Rolling Stone is destined to be massive!

The album I started with the hugely talented and totally amazing Matthew Whitaker last year is edging closer to completion. We just completed a 3 day session at Eve which saw the recording of a new song and a string session on 2 tracks, “Feud” and “Penny Dreadfull”. Just a few vocals to do and a brass session and this fantastic album will finally be ready to mix!! Good times

Stephen Dale Petit is a guitarist, singer, songwriter, a pioneer in New Blues music, and a major architect for the New Blues Revolution.

After mixing his last album “The Crave” in 2010, which was listed at 39 in MOJO’s top 100 albums of the year, I’ve been helping Stephen finish off his follow up album he recorded in Nashville with producer Vance Powell. I spent 5 days in his London HQ recording vocals and guitars on 3 tracks. The album’s sounding like a monster!!

Watch out for the deluxe edition of the Vaccines forthcoming album, “The Vaccines Come Of Age”. The album will feature 2 tracks recorded by me called “Runaway” and “Bad Behaviour”. We cut both tracks over 2 days last week in London, and the tracks sound super cool…raw and energetic. x
